How to Make your Own Tiered Fountains
|
Making your own tiered fountains is a fairly easy task and you will not need many materials. All you need is three planters, probably made of terra cotta or something that has the same appearance, a fountain pump, some tubing, a drill, and some small rocks of your choice. Once you have these supplies you are ready to get started on your fountain. The way the fountain will work is by having the fountain pump re-circulate the water through the three pots, then it comes down the sides to go through the bottom to the pump again. First of all you will want to drill a large hole in the back of the middle planter and the hole needs to be big enough for the cord to the fountain pump to go through. Then you need a hole at the center and bottom of the small and medium planters that will be large enough for the tubing you bought to go through. You also need several small holes around the lip of your planter in places they will be hidden. Next you want to place the fountain pump in the bottom of the largest planter you bought. Then you run the cord of the pump through the hole you drilled in the medium planter. Fit the tubing on the pump and then make sure it goes all the way to a couple inches over the top of the smallest planter, which will be on the top. Then you want to thread this tubing through the center holes you drilled in the small and medium planters. Once you have the planters all together make sure they are snug. Then you want to take your rocks and decorate the sides and tops of the planters. Make sure that you use the rocks to hide the tubing that you used. Now all you have to do is plug it in and you will have a beautiful fountain to decorate your patio or yard. Making tiered fountains is very easy to do and you will have the satisfaction of creating a beautiful piece for your patio. Joanne is an author of Decorz.com.
