How to Wash a Down Comforter



While all down comforters come with their very own set of care instructions that you should follow, there are some things that you should know about how to wash a down comforter. There are special ways that you should wash a comforter that is filled with down. However, when you read your care label that is attached to your comforter, you will get the great results that you are expecting.

If for some reason the care instruction tag is missing from your down comforter and you are still wondering how to wash a down comforter, you may want to call or look up the manufacturer for the best results. Just stuffing the comforter that is made from down might end up with horrendous results that you are not prepared for. You may be looking for a new comforter to replace the down comforter if you were to do such a thing.

However, you should know how to wash a down comforter, as well as any other comforter if you have a few of them. Because the comforters will often get dirty, you will need to know how to wash them properly. If your comforter can be machine washed, you will want to visit a laundry mat and use a commercial washing machine to do this. Because home washing machines are often not large enough, you will have to stuff it in to the machine, and it will not get clean. When you get to the laundry may, be sure that you dissolve the washing powder in the machine before you insert your comforter. This will allow the soap time to dissolve, and then you would put your comforter into the machine after that.

While you are learning how to wash a down comforter, you will also want to know the best way to dry it. Hanging the comforter out in the sun to dry, will bring you the best results. However, not everyone has this option. So, using a commercial dryer at the laundry mat would be in your best interest for drying your down comforter. If you are storing your comforter for the summer once it has been washed and dried, you will want to be sure that it is completely dry to avoid mildew. You would not want to be faced with mold and mildew on your down comforter when you get it out of storage for the winter.
