How to choose the best children's luggage
|
One key thing to look for in children's luggage is portability and areasonable weight. Many doctors are beginning to see back problemseven in young children, brought on by years of lugging heavybackpacks and book bags back and forth to school. It is importanttherefore to choose luggage that is of an appropriate size and weightfor the child. If you have several children of differing ages, it isprobably a good idea to buy each child his or her own special suitcase. When shopping for children's luggage, it is important to look forluggage which is on wheels, and to make sure that the luggage is easyto wheel around. It goes without saying that the handle of thesuitcase or rolling backpack should be of an appropriate height for thechild to pull easily. It is also a good idea to have the child open and close the zippers andother closures on the suitcase. It is not enough that the parent is ableto easily open the suitcase; the child should be able to take littlethings in and out of the luggage unassisted. Zippers that are easy topull, but still built to last, are perhaps the most important element ofany suitcase. Price is of course another consideration when it comes to shopping forchildren's luggage. Unlike adult luggage sets, which can be used foryears or even decades, the suitcase you buy your five or six year oldwill quickly be outgrown. Those parents with several children canalways hand the children's luggage down from child to child, but evenso the lifespan of the average set of children's luggage will besomewhat limited. Fortunately for the parent's wallet, most sets of children's luggage arequite inexpensive, at least when compared to the grown up variety. The key, of course, is to shop around and to carefully compare thevarious models on the market. Children's luggage is sold whereveradult luggage is sold, from department stores to discount retailers tospecialty luggage stores to the internet. It is a good idea to shop at all these sources, and to look fordiscontinued models, which are often heavily discounted. If the childin question does not mind carrying a backpack festooned with lastyear's cartoon characters, the parents may be able to save a lot ofmoney. As with adult luggage purchases, the key to getting the bestdeal on children's luggage is to know what to look for, to carefullyreview quality, and to shop around.
