Improving Your PC System Performance

As technology and software advances, it is normal to find that the computer's system performance may not match up to the user experience. Instead of feeling amazed by the latest features in the software that we install, we become dismayed that the newer versions of the software that we used to have now seem to run much slower than the prior versions. Why is this so?

The reason is that software requirements change as hardware technology advances. In addition, programming tools are developed to make life easier for the programmers, often in exchange for higher memory usage. Additional software features also require more computing power to function optimally. All these translate to a slower experience in using the latest software given the same system hardware as before. System performance goes down in general.

So does it mean we have to go out and buy a new system? Not really. There are things we can do that do not involve such an outlay of funds. For a start, you can purchase more memory (called RAM) for your computer. Programs require a lot of memory to run nowadays, and RAM is no longer as expensive as it was in the past. By adding more memory, you can see a dramatic increase in speed when you run applications because Windows no longer have to place, or swap, a running program to the hard disk first before running another software. This is the hardware solution that you can try.

For the software side, you can try clearing the Windows registry of all the obsolete data that it has gathered over time. As we use the computer, more and more information is stored inside the Windows registry, which is a database that Windows stores all sorts of data into. Over time, the registry becomes cluttered with old and useless information, which bloats it up. Sometimes these obsolete information may cause errors because the information is already outdated.

This is where registry cleaner software can help. Registry cleaners scan through the entire registry looking for errors and fix these errors when they are found. The process is automated and there is no need for any technical knowledge. The registry becomes optimized, and therefore the PC's system performance improves. There are plenty of registry cleaners out there though, and finding a good and reliable one can be tricky, so you will have to evaluate them properly.
