|
The hand knotted carpets are all different depending on the expertise and the style. The bright colors and the hand knotted technique they use are known to be their own creations. The more knots per square inch the more elegant and cherished these carpets can be. The designs and colors are known as the artist profection in Indian craftsmanship. This elegance has been created since the medieval time period. The wool that the Indians use varies depending on the quality of the rug or carpet along with the design, style and colors being used. The best grade of wool that the Indians use is made in their medium quality carpet. The best grade woolen carpet is made up of imported and the Indians best grade wool combined. In order to get the greatest effect the wool is washed immediately upon receiving. When the wool is washed for perfection they use a special chemical in the water. The most affordable Indian carpet is the Tuffed carpet made by machines and can be produced 15 times faster than the woven. Scrapes are used in the design of this carpet to bring out for of the pattern and textures. Tufted carpets can be made up by hand or machine. The machine is similar to the sewing machine only has many needles called tufting guns. This carpet can be made more easily than the woven because of the different patters and the use of the machine. The quality for this carpet depends on the backing being used. The Back needs to be of a good quality woven fabric; selection depends on the pile and pattern texture. If it is going to be hand tufted each pile is done separate and dyed yarns can be used for the tufted carpet. The textures come in different touches due to the different patterns and pile. Once the backing is selected a thin layer of latex or adhesive is applied to hold the pile. A second backing is that used for durably to give the carpet more strength. Another famous carpet made by the Indians is the Gabbe woolen carpet that has the herdsmen and the Indian tribes in mind. Hand knotted pile with all natural dies using hand spun wool from the sheep or goats. The patterns in the Gabbe carpet are in the Persian style using bold prints of animals, humans, field, stripes, and geomsetic shapes. In the fall the men would wash and cut the wool from the animals and delivered it to the women. From this time on the carpets were created by the women of the tribes. The wool would be hand spun, died and than woven on iron or wooden looms. When thinking about purchasing an Indian carpet check them out before buying. Touch the texture and look at the over all pattern of each design. There are so many different textures and patterns; beautifully made that it makes it hard to choose the right one.
