Infrasonic Gas Grill? What Exactly is That?
|
As it turns out, infrasound is any sound with a frequency that is too low for the human ear to pick up. One of the first recorded observations of natural infrasound was when the aftermath of the eruption of Krakatoa brought concussive acoustic waves that circled the globe at least seven times and were recorded on barometers around the world. In the fifties, Vladimir Gavreau discovered that the symptoms his lab partners were suffering from came from infrasonic waves. He went on the create an infrasound gun that was quickly proclaimed to be deadly because targets' internal organs would almost immediately begin to bleed when the gun was focus on ad fired upon mammalian targets. Of course the application of infrasonic waves has many beneficial uses, such as cooking, as it turns out. Infrasonic waves are also produced when large tornadoes form. Many animals are much better equipped to sense these natural infrasounds that announce the coming of a large storm of any kind. Historically, there have been many large scale natural disasters where animals cleared the area long before there was any evidence of a storm to humans perception. The Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization even uses infrasonic technology to find out if nuclear explosions have taken place. Along with hydroacoustic, atmospheric radionuclide and seismic monitoring, the infra sound monitoring plays an important role in trying to turn around today's state of increased nuclear proliferation. The problem is truly an elephant in the sitting room, as far as it being one of the likeliest ways that we humans could manage to kill ourselves off as well as our planet. Infrasound technology is used to detect and track all kinds of natural occurrences, from strong ocean waves to avalanches, volcanoes, earthquakes and meteors. With infrasound technology we can foresee many kinds of potentially deadly natural occurrences. As it turns out, we can cook food with the stuff as well. Just like with Gavreau's infrasonic gun, the power of infrasound can cook meat by forcing the molecules to vibrate at such high levels that they cook by mere friction alone. What will they think of next? Personally, I'm a little creeped out about the infrasonic gas grill. But then again, I still avoid using the microwave even though it's become the most widely used kitchen gadget over the last few decades. I think I'll wait a few more years before I run out and buy an infrasonic gas grill. It seems like it may be wise to wait for all the accidentally infrasonically cooked barbeque chiefs stories to come in before making myself a guinea pig. It sounds like a great idea, but what's wrong with good old fashioned fire? I've never had a problem with it myself. About The Author: Myrna Hora is the Editor and Publisher of Article Click.
