Installing Your Dishwasher Supply Line

The new dishwasher's arrived; you've removed all the packing material, and placed it on its back. Now you just need to attach the new elbow for the dishwasher supply line.

One side of the dishwasher elbow will be a standard 3/8 inch threat while the other side accommodates a 3/8 inch compression fitting nut. Once the elbow has been installed it should be facing backward so that you can reattach it to the supply line. To ensure you don't have a leak give the elbow four wraps with the Teflon tape.

Replace your 3/8 inch flexible copper line with the more easy to work with braided metal line which can be purchased at plumbing or home center retailers.

Thread the new discharge hose into the hole that is on the side of the cabinet. Move the new machine into the proper opening being careful as to not scratch or dent it. Ease it slowly into place while you work the discharge line carefully through the cabinet side. You need to make sure the line does not become kinked.

First hook up the plumbing and watch for any leaks. It's easy to pull the plumbing back out and fix it before all the electrical connections have been hooked up. Don't over tighten your compression fittings otherwise they tend to leak.

Turn the water on and test your plumbing connections. When you are sure there are no leaks then you need to connect the wiring and attach the discharge line that is under the sink. You should always shave a loop in the drain line. This stops any back wash.

Now you need to adjust the height to ensure it is level. You do this using the feet that are on the machine. Try to reduce the gap under the counter making it as flush as possible to the base of the cupboard.

When you've connected everything then you need to run it through a couple of cycles before you put the front panel back on. When you are sure everything is running smoothly and that there are no leaks then you can put the front back on. Your job is done now it's time to sit back and relax.
