Installing a Dishwasher
|
First of all, you need some basic tools and some free time and patience. For sure, if you bought a brand new dishwasher from a specialized store, it came with installation instructions - these can vary from dishwasher to dishwasher, but there are some rules that apply to all such machines. The main thing that you need to do before you install the dishwasher is to check the shutoff valve. This one has to be especially made for dishwashers, so in case you do not have a specialized one (dual-outlet shutoff), you have to get one and install it. In order to install this valve, you have to turn off the main valve of your house and then to disconnect the water tube of the sink. After this, you have to unscrew the old valve and screw the new one. Secondly, you have to insert the air gap through a hole in the sink's top. When you do this, make sure the hole is the right size and that your system is secure. After that, you can push the power cord, the tube and the hose through the holes and attach the sink's tube to the new valve. The water line has to be tightened really strongly, in order to prevent undesired accidents. Also, it is a good idea to leave the drainpipe facing the hose. Only after you reconnect the wires, you can reconnect the water supply tube and turn on the water and the electricity. There is one major thing which you have to take into consideration when installing a dishwasher: you should take care of the connectors when you move the machine around and make sure you take the necessary safety measures before you begin working. But besides thinking about all the technical details, you should pay attention some practical facts, as well. For example, you have to make sure that the dishwasher has sufficient space, meaning that its door is not hitting any other elements of your kitchen when it opens. So now you know all you need to know about installing a dishwasher. You can go shopping and choose the best one for your needs and install it on your own, without any extra help. For sure, you will feel very efficient and skilled if you do so.
