Installing the Powis Parker Fastback P21x FoilFast Printer in Windows

1.Plug your printer into your computer using either a USB cable or aparallel printer cable. The P21x printer is the first generation of theFoilfast Printer to include a USB port. If you have an older P21printer without USB you may be able to use a parallel to USB conversioncable. However, not all brands of USB to parallel cables work with thisunit. Check with your local Powis Parker dealer for a list ofcompatible brands.

2.After you have plugged the unit into yourcomputer, turn your printer on. The "Found New Hardware Wizard" screenshould appear. If you have the driver disk for your software you canget it ready now. Otherwise you should be able to find the software forthis printer at powis.com/software

3.Click on "Install from alist or specific location" and click 'Next'. The Hardware wizard willthen ask you to locate your installation software.

4.Click'Browse' and locate your software, or insert your installation CD intothe computer. When you have located the folder that contains thesoftware, the 'OK' button will become available. If you are not in afolder or subdirectory that contains the installation software, the'OK' button will remained grayed out.

5.Click 'OK'. TheHardware Wizard will now show the location of the software in thewindow labeled "Include this location in the search." Make sure thatthe box above this section is checked.

6.Click 'Next' and the program will search for the new software.

7.At this point you may receive a warning that the software you areabout to install has not passed Windows Logo testing. If this windowappears, click 'Continue Anyway'. The Hardware Wizard should nowinstall the software onto your computer.

8.The Hardware Wizardwill notify you when it is finished installing the printer software.Click 'Finish'. The printer device drivers and FoilFast software willnot be loaded onto your computer and you should be ready to customizeyour documents with foil.

After you have completed thesesteps, your printer should be ready to use. If, for any reason yourinstallation was not successful, remove all components of the FoilFastsoftware from your computer and try the installation again. The currentversion of Foilfast drives seems to work well with Windows XP butcustomers have reported issues trying to install the printer on WindowsVista.
