Instrument Storage Cabinets Protect Valuable Tools

I've been redesigning band halls at middle schools for several years now. They usually need new instrument storage cabinets. I've measured the various instruments in their cases. I use this information to calculate how many instrument storage cabinets we'll need for the job.

I visited the Dutchtown Middle School while they were remodeling their band hall. I was fortunate enough to be able to attend their spring concert. It was interesting that they had such a large Tuba section. I made a note of the large size of their brass section so that I could order them enough instrument storage cabinets.

The best instrument storage cabinets that I've found are modular. The standard size for the modular instrument storage cabinets is 48.5" wide, 28" deep and 41.5" high. I like that the standard size instrument storage cabinets can be arranged in a wide variety of combinations.

I sold Covington Colts Middle School Band in Austin, Texas a large modular system of instrument storage cabinets. They took the forty three different instrument storage cabinets and intermixed them, double stacked them and bolted them together as one large assembly. This is going to permit long range planning for the future expansion of storage facilities.

While I was in Austin, I stopped by the University Of Texas School Of Music. They have a large band at the University of Texas and they also offer camps, conferences and workshops where all of the instrument storage cabinets are usually filled to capacity and beyond. I sold them a small set of instrument storage cabinets to help alleviate the congestion in their storage room.

There are a lot of stops I've made in Texas selling instrument storage cabinets. I was fortunate enough to be visiting Texas A&M University when the jazz ensemble was playing. They were really good and I enjoyed myself tremendously.

The Creekwood Band in Kingwood, Texas bought one of the largest set of instrument storage cabinets that I've ever sold. They have over two hundred student currently taking band. The band director was new and developing an aggressive approach to recruiting.

In Texas, marching band is almost as big a deal as football. The Texans have figured out that the more students that they can get involved in middle school band, the bigger the high school marching bands will be. This realization has occurred for most middle schools after their instrument storage cabinets become woefully inadequate.

My favorite band director has got to have been at Omar N. Bradley Middle School Band in San Antonio, Texas. He really liked the instrument storage cabinets that I had to offer, but he was unable to buy any due to budget cuts. He had already had to cut a paid position and didn't have any money to improve the facilities.

I read in the Dallas newspaper recently that the Swanson Middle School band director was named Arlington's 2006 Teacher of the Year. I met that band director in 2004 and he was really very nice. I designed a system of instrument storage cabinets that was going to grow with his brass section. He had a large number of trombones and baritones.

I really have been surprised that a lot of band halls were constructed and designed with no knowledge of the sizes for instrument cases. I just wonder sometimes what someone was thinking when they put in instrument storage cabinets that wouldn't hold even the most common instruments. I like being able to help make the band halls operate more efficiently.
