The earlier part of this era was a period of upheaval where the women's movement crested and women stepped into roles that were only held by men in the past. Styles exploded and took on a youthful look and feel that had a bit of a jazzy feel. Woman's fashions continued to change throughout the era as hemlines climbed and the waistline disappeared.
