Is Failing at a Home Business a Failure or a Learning Experience?

In the mid 1900s, a young person could opt for training on the job. College degrees were important but lack of experience was still a deterrent to success or even getting hired. Applicants rightly asked, "How do I get the experience if I can't get a job?" Some companies had the idea that if they employed young people and trained them on what their company did, they would have that employee for life. It was such a great idea that some fantastic career professionals were created. Unfortunately, other companies often enticed them away with better pay until companies gave up the idea of investing time and money into extensive training.

Today, we see far less on-the-job-training. There is so little opportunity for advancement these days, that corporations have become the new "pyramid scheme." Surprised by my use of terms? I'll explain. Without a chance to be in charge, the few at the top are getting rich and the pay scale goes down from there. But it wasn't always that way. Once, even a clerk could improve with training and wind up at the top. Ah, yes, the good old days.

Now, if you're happy with your job, why are you surfing the net looking at Home Business opportunities? Maybe you just want some extra cash? Okay, but I can almost guarantee that taking on the adventure of entrepreneurial opportunities means you will have to work and you will have to train. And there's a lot to learn. Like learning on the job used to be, training while you build is essential to your success.

There are some similarities between a Home Business and a job. If you work, you get paid; if you know what you're doing, you can make a decent pay; if you are nice to people, you can make a lot of friends. I can't think of any more similarities because the freedoms and limitless income afforded by a home business have biased me. With a home business, your income depends on your own knowledge and acquired abilities.

"But I did train!" you say. "I still failed!" First question, "With whom did you train?" This is a very key point so I want you to take a deep breath and relax. I'm going to ask you a question and you need to take an honest look. Had the person who trained you made a great deal of money with the same business as the one you were trying to build? Second question: Did he know how to put that training across in a way that you could easily follow it and put it to use?

If your answers are "No" then, well, there you go. If you tried this before and failed, I can guarantee you that you did not get properly trained by someone who had already succeeded. Want to know one the biggest secrets to building a home business? You have to build a TEAM of successful people.

Here's another secret. You have to deal in very large numbers if you want to build a large following. It takes years to do. How do you retain thousands of people once you have them? Not by ripping them off, that's for sure.

Here are some dos and don'ts:

1. Don't chase people to make a sale.

2. Do establish trust and share your business.

3. Don't spend all your time trying to fix the guy who won't help your expansion.

4. Do spend your time getting very large numbers of people interested and making friends with those who do help and getting them to contact large numbers of people.

3. Do pass on successful actions to both types just in case you judged wrongly.

4. Do offer everyone proper training which they can learn on their own.

5. Do offer everyone an equal opportunity to make money.

6. Don't confuse everyone with statements of instability, such as sweeping changes or thinking out loud about ideas you have for the business.

7. Do use newsletters or conference calls to talk to everyone so nobody feels left out.

Building a team requires communication, training and focus. If you don't learn this, the result is obvious - no customers, subscribers or downline leaves you with no money.

Where does one get proper training? Only study books by 7-figure earners. If you want to think and act like someone who is a successful entrepreneur, then you'd better start associating with top earners. It's common sense that if someone wants to know how to do something, they ask or learn from someone who has done it. You can read their books, sign up for their newsletters, join their businesses or even follow them on social networks. They won't snub you unless you want something for nothing, waste their time by ignoring their advice or treat them with disrespect.

You will find out something very interesting if you do this. Millionaires started out just like you - surfing the net or otherwise looking for a way to better their income. It isn't as if people are born knowing how to make a million dollars. and how they've never stopped learning. Each and every one talks about a mentor they had the good fortune to meet. And each developed their own system for residual income.

Bottom line is, if you've failed at a Home Business before, you could have learned from your mistakes. If you did not, that was your only real mistake or failure. A wise man once said that it is impossible to fail if you never give up.
