It's Called Prospecting. Not Manipulating!
|
1. The economy is too bad 2. Costs were too high to stay in it. 3. Didn't have enough time 4. Didn't have enough support from my upline And on and on. But the truth of the matter was this, I couldn't get anyone to understand or see the huge opportunity I had for them. I couldn't manipulate them enough to joing me! The word manipulate is perceived as a negative word. Other synonyms include convince, coerce, finesse, influence, negotiate, control, direct, steer, push, or pull. All these words say the same thing; forcing people to do things they don't really want to do (whether they are aware of it or not). Fact is I was persuing people who had never ever shown any interest in what I had to offer. I was just kind of "springing it" on them hoping that I would be lucky enough to come across someone who may be interested. The problem with this approach is it was really just a game of chance. After being beaten down enough over the years I was willing or I should say, "had" to try something new. In a perfect world I new that I needed to have prospects who had some interest in network marketing. They had already heard of network marketing and were already heading down the path of possible business option. I needed people who wanted to know what network marketing was all about. But how was I going to get myself in front of them? Well, I had to be willing to help them and I set forth using what I had learned to help others. I used much of my failures and successes to become a light on what sometimes felt like a dark path. Such satisfaction was found in being compassionate to the struggles of other network marketers. Through those relationships I have found my business growing, almost without even trying. I believe that when people give without expecting something in return, they receive more then they ever imagined. Suddenly I wasn't persuing, I was being persued. Being on this end of the network marketing sales channel is not only more beneficial from a business stand point, but the personal growth achieved is priceless. So the moral of the story is this. "Give what you have to get what you want. Want to know more about this topic?
