Jacuzzi Filters

The materials suspended in your spa water must be filtered out. This is critical to maintain sanitary conditions and use your spa safely. Jacuzzi filters and filter systems are essential to maintaining your spa and there three different methods of filtration available to choose from which will keep your pool crystal clear.

The sand filter is the oldest method around requiring a special filter that sandwiched with #20 silica sand. These filters are easily available online and at your local pool dealer.

The sand has sharp edges and this is what helps separate the particles of dirt as they are driven through the sand bed they become trapped. Even the smallest particles are trapped. Large and small become victim to the sand bed. Initially the larger pieces are trapped and as the sand becomes plugged with particles smaller and smaller particles become trapped.

The second system uses the element cartridge which catches the particles of dirt as the water passes through the filter. Larger particles are trapped first and like the sand filter the more debris caught soon the smaller particles are also trapped and then the very smallest over time.

Lastly we have the diatomaceous earth filter which is made of a porous powder that has microscopic openings which traps particles as small as one to three microns. If you are wondering just how small that is a human hair is 50 microns. So as you can see nothing gets buy this filter.

Diatomaceous earth is made from the diatoms of fossils like prehistoric skeletons of microscopic water plants. It takes billions of these diatoms to form a filter grid. Its natural, non toxic, and incredibly good at what it does.

All three filter types are readily available online or at your local pool and spa dealer. The style you choose will depend a great deal on what your system is designed for. Of course you can always change out a system if you wish as long as you are willing to incur the cost.

How often you will need to change the filters depends a great deal on the amount of use your spa gets and how much debris enters your spa, as well as which filter system you have. You should also follow the manufacturers directions for replacement and your spa manufacturers directions to ensure you do not void your warranty.

Filters are reasonably priced so dont skimp. After all if you can afford to own and operate a spa then you should make sure it is safe and sanitary for you and your guests. And can you really put a price on your health?

Your spa is a wonderful place to relax and relieve the stresses of the day as well as some aches and pains but the warm water is also an excellent breeding ground for germs and bacteria. The chemicals you use combined with the filter ensure that these germs and bacteria are not harmful to you.

You can purchase a full range of Jacuzzi filters online from a variety of sites. And of course you can save substantially just by shopping around a bit.
