Keep Your RV Air Condition Compressor Tip Top

Isn't it time you took control of the temperature in your RV with a roof top air conditioner? It's a great way to keep the summer heat under control. These excellent tips will keep your RV air condition compressor tip top which means you'll be cool as a cucumber all summer long.

You want to make sure that by the time summer temperatures arrive that you RV air conditioner and compressor are in tip top operating condition.

1. Wash The FilterMost RV's actually have a filter that is made of foam so you can wash it and reuse it. Just use a mild soap, rinse, and let it air dry. Then reinstall. If the filter is stained really bad or worn you will want to replace it. You can also upgrade the factory filter for a superior after market filter that is designed to better trap dust, pollen, and fine particles. Most of these are electro static filters. If you are in a really dusty area check the filter every couple of weeks. Under normal conditions once per season should be sufficient.2. Eye Spy The Compressor and CondenserKeep a close eye on these two areas especially the condenser fins. Check for fins that are crushed or broken down. You will need to re-straighten them. Check the compressor and conditioner for leaks, corrosion, and leak. Deal with any issues or problems that you notice.3. Check The ShroudWhen you check the shroud you should also check the anchoring system. If the shroud is brittle, oxidized, or have wear and tear then you need to replace. If it's loose examine to see if you can tighten it up. Chances are you will need to replace. A broken shroud not only means your air conditioner won't work properly but it also created a hazard on the road because the shroud could fly off the top of the RV and cause an accident.4. Test ItThe best way to know if your air conditioner is okay is to simply test it. Make sure that it is producing adequately cold air and that the controls are working fine. Make sure the compressor isn't making any strange sounds. If it is you need to have your RV technician check it and service it.

Your air conditioner has many small parts and a couple of big ones which includes the compressor. It's extremely important that you stay on top of not only the small parts but the major components too.

It is important to ensure that your RV air conditioner is in great shape before that scorching weather arrives. You can have your unit serviced at your local RV outlet such as Camping World, who will have trained technicians on staff. Isn't it time to be ever so cool?

Start with your RV air condition compressor and then take it from there. Regular maintenance is going to keep you cool as a cucumber all summer long.
