When you have decide to start a website for your company, there are many ways that you can promote it and get traffic to it. One of the easiest and most effective ways is through correct SEO methods. SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization and it basically means that you need to optimize your website so that it will be seen by the search engines. Most people when searching for a product or service will use these search engines like Google and Yahoo and just type in the keyword they are looking for. If you have a correctly optimized site you can be located high on this page ranking and therefore be available for people to click on. It is common knowledge that many internet browsers only look at the first page when they have used a search engine and not many people look on the second or third pages, so it is very important to use as many SEO techniques as possible in order to get onto the top of the list.

The SEO techniques that you can use consist of link building, proper website design with Meta tags and keyword rich content and descriptions, and keyword rich articles submitted to directories. These are the main aspects of SEO and most of them can be done yourself. If you don’t have time, however, you can get a freelance writer to do the content for you and a web development company to do the rest. The first thing you will have to do though is to make a list of all the keywords that relate to your business and try to make them as unique as possible. For example: there are thousands of people that are using health spa as a keyword, so try to make it more specific by using New York health spa, or cheap health spa instead.

There are tons of keywords you can use that apply to your business, so take your time to think of as many as you can. You can also use a keyword program that will automatically give you a comprehensive list of keywords based on your business. Aside from keywords that you use in articles submitted to article directories, you can also use link building as a great way to improve your SEO and increase your page ranking, thus generating more traffic to your website. This process may be a bit time consuming, but the benefits are great. Link building can occur in a number of ways. First of all you can join link exchanger programs and the like, where you will place your link on someone else’s website and they will do the same in return. This only works though if the website your link is on, is listed highly in the search engines. Otherwise you can list your website in various directories and everywhere you can to get noticed. If you are an estate agent for example, you can list your website on various real estate website, rental listing and company listings. Link building is also an internal process, whereby you will place links to other pages on your website from your index page and the other pages. This allows for easy navigation of your site and will help your SEO process. Once you are noticed by the search engines your traffic will improve dramatically.
