A kickflip is the kind of special movement made with a skateboard that consists of turning over the skateboard during an ollie. Knowing how to perform a good kickflip is a must for any skater, no matter if you want to be a professional or just another guy that knows how to do tricks with their skateboard. This article will teach you the basic rules of a good kickflip, but the hard work rests only on your shoulders.

Any skater must be equipped as needed, with skateboard pads, wheels, trucks, special shoes, rails, components for skateboards, a helmet and to have decks at their disposal to make the training possible.

When you want to perform a kickflip, you will start by setting your feet like when you prepare for an ollie.

Now, the ball of the front foot must be oriented towards the middle of the skateboard and just a little below the front bolts.

The following step is very much like an ollie movement, but here is where the first difference appears. Hit the tail, but do not drag the front foot up the skateboard. Instead, drag it outside the board, and do a flicking movement. Do it faster, to obtain faster results. Your ankle will feel it if you do it properly.

Keep yourself glued to the board, while jumping, and you will notice how the skateboard will continue to flip. Do not push down on your board, so it can increase its rise.

At a certain moment, you have to allow the board to hit the back foot. This happens when the flipping is complete. The part of the kickflip is known as catching the flip. Take care that your front foot can get back on the board, but make sure that the back foot is the first to do that. This way, you will not lose control over the trick why you are descending.

The key for a perfect landing is to reach the board with both feet, keeping them as close to the bolts as it is possible.

Now, repeat the movements until you feel that you have mastered the technique.

There are certain things that you should keep an eye open for. One is that a faster flicking will determine a faster flipping and you will get to jump higher. Another piece of advice is to consider proper training before trying anything that seems too dangerous. Make sure that you have all the necessary safety equipment and that you do not expose yourself to unnecessary risks.
