Kneeling Chairs

With so many posture injuries especially to the back kneeling chairs have become extremely popular as a method of avoiding these types of injuries especially if you need to sit for long periods of time while you are working.

Studies have shown that people who sit for long periods of time or who do repetitive motions all day long benefit from using a kneeling chair by reducing strain to muscles and reducing the risk of injury.

When you sit on a regular chair your back tends to get caught up in some awkward angle which can cause back strain and even injury over time. The kneeling chair mimics your standing posture by tilting the seat forward about 30 degrees which causes your spine to land in what's referred to as a neutral position.

The bar in front of the chair stops your knees from siding forward reducing the weight of sitting o your hips and lower back. Your lower legs are under the body and the shins rest below your hips distributing your weight between the shins and hips.

Many discover that the knee chair reduces the stress to their lower back. It's also an excellent choice for anyone who has poor posture to begin to address the problem. Because there is no backrest it corrects hunching.

They are readily available online and at your local office supply store. Each year they become more main stream as more and more companies decide to add them to their work force in a hope of reducing injuries.

It takes some practice and it requires some coordination to get the hang of using this style of chair. You have to negotiate the support that is in front of your knees as well as the pad that supports the shins. Getting out can also be a bit of a challenge creating quite a tripping hazard.

After you get the hang of these chairs you just might decide what thousands of others already have - sitting in these chairs are fun. And what could be better? At the same time you are benefiting your health and increasing productivity.

There is an excellent selection of chair types to choose from and it's important to choose a good fit and a style that's comfortable to you.

It will take a bit to train your body for these new movements. You'll be using muscles that aren't used often so they might feel stiff at first. It can take as much as 2 weeks for your muscles to adapt.

When using your chair you need to make sure that most of your body weight is still being supported by seat. It's a common error. Practice using your chair in the atmosphere you will be most using it. Always sit and then put both knees on the cushion.

Although the use of kneeling chairs began with those suffering from back problems today they are used by all kinds of people in all kinds of jobs. In fact today they are even used in home offices and by teens on their computers. All kinds of people have come to love their kneeling chair.
