When many people think of Las Vegas, they think of gambling and weddings, but there is actually much more to this rather infamous city than casino and wedding chapels. In fact, many people are surprised to learn that there are numerous activities in Las Vegas to keep them busy for several days without ever stepping foot into a casino. Besides being the home to numerous casinos, Las Vegas also plays host to a wide variety of music and variety shows. Some of the most famous performers in the world step on stage several times a year in Vegas in addition to numerous performers who put on a show under the bright lights of the Strip almost every night of the week. Just a few of these famous headliners include Wayne Newton, Celine Dion, Barry Manilow and many others. Las Vegas is also well known for gorgeous golf courses. In fact, several of the golf courses in Las Vegas are widely acclaimed; making the favorites of pros and amateurs alike. Wandering from one hotel and resort to the next can be somewhat of a vacation in itself. Las Vegas is home to a veritable menagerie of themed accommodations. While hotels, motels and resorts dot the Strip like the stars in the sky; many of them have elected to operate under a unique theme. Circus Circus, of course, is one of the biggest names under the big top of Las Vegas; operating with a decided circus theme. Beneath the famous red and white striped awning roof of the Circus Circus hotel and resort, visitors will find carnival games, cocktail waitresses that juggle as they take orders, clowns, trapeze artists, a carousel and even aerialists swinging through the air. The young and the young at heart, there’s also a mid-way featuring carnival games and bumper cars. The Venetian takes its theme from the beautiful city of Venice; complete with gondolas, canals and even strolling performers. Ceasar’s Palace has been a mainstay on the Las Vegas Strip for a number of years, featuring a distinct Roman Empire theme. Don’t be surprised if you run into a legionnaire or two while strolling the halls of the Palace. Many of the hotels and resorts in Las Vegas also take pride in offering a wide array of spa treatments and amenities including manicures, pedicures, massages, wraps, salt glows, tanning, steam rooms, saunas as well as various strength and fitness programs. For those individuals who do not mind taking a little side trip, Las Vegas is also a natural stopping off point to some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. The Grand Canyon, although located in a different state, is a relatively close drive to Sin City; making it a perfect accompaniment to any Las Vegas vacation. Visitors will also find that the Hoover Dam is a great site to tour while visiting Las Vegas as well. Las Vegas also offers a wide variety of activities and attractions that both kids and teens will find interesting and entertaining. Just a few of the attractions designed specifically for kids include the Adventurdome; America’s largest indoor theme park, and the Desperado, a train that careens at 80 mph. Quite surprisingly, some of the attractions in Las Vegas are actually free of charge. Kids and parents both will enjoy such activities as the Ethel M Chocolate Factory, Lion Habitat at MGM, wildlife habitat at the Flamingo, volcano at the Mirage and Azure at the Silverton, a huge 117,000 gallon saltwater aquarium. With so many activities, events and attractions, it could be that your visit to Las Vegas may fly by without your ever even thinking about gambling.
