There are all kinds of materials to engrave on but acrylic is by far the most popular these days. It is used for ornamental decoration, awards for special events such as the Academy Awards or Oscars, trophies, and other special presentations. Laser engraved acrylic is the way to do it. When the acrylic is struck by the laser it takes on a frosted appearance. All the engraving is done on the back side of the item whether it is a wall plaque, trophy, or ornament. You look through the piece of acrylic to see the image. Wood is the most popular material to engrave but acrylic is second and quickly catching up to wood when it comes to laser engraving. That's because acrylic is so easy to work with and engrave. It can easily be cut into an amazing amount of sizes and shape and its cheap compare to other materials. There are two forms of acrylic - cast acrylic and extruded acrylic. Cast is the one that is used for just about all types of engraving because it provides a stunning contrast against the clear acrylic. Extruded stays clear when it is engraved and has very little contrast but it is the best choice for vector cutting. It is less expensive than cast as well it has a much lower melting point that gives it a flame finished look when cut. There are limits about how thick the acrylic can be to be cut with your laser engraver. Of coursed you can always do more than one cut. 1/8� is 12 watt, �� is 25 watt, �� is 40 watt, �� is 75 watt, and 1� is 100 watt. Art StatuesCarved pillars, signature pieces that depict dragons, fairies, or other creatures, abstract deco pieces, and just about any other style. They are stunning pieces of art that will defiantly get noticed. 2. AwardsYou recall those exquisite Oscar awards? They are made of acrylic and can be cut in any shape you can imagine with the appropriate information etched onto them. There are all kinds of shapes and sizes you can choose from. 3. Picture CubesJust when you think it couldn't get any better it does. These great little cubes depict all kinds of images such as fairies, dragons, and sports figures. The images that can be engraved are pretty much endless and these delightful cubes always become the center of attention. 4. Acrylic PhotographsThese are rather unique. Created on a flat thin piece of acrylic the photo is reproduced using etching techniques. This is a great way to transfer a photo to a more artistic impression. However you want to use your engraving equipment is up to you but acrylic should be one of your main material choices and engraving that acrylic will certainly increase your business revenues. Engraved acrylic is very popular these days.
