Engraving is a popular process that has been around for many years but in recent years there have been some high tech improvements such as Laser engraving which is used for laser wood engraving as well as many other applications. If you aren't familiar with engraving it is a process in which lines and grooves are etching or cut into a hard surface that may be wood, metal, glass, or even stone. Some types of engraving such as line engraving use a plate while others work directly with the product that is going to be engraved. Engraving has many different uses which are both functional and decorative. Whether you need a thousand name tags or want to engrave some magical words into that wedding band. Not only are there thousands of uses there are hundreds of font styles and sizes to choose from too combined with an endless supply of materials that you can engrave onto. Engraving is really a form of printing. Heck even the printing of money involves engraving. From printing wedding invitations, business cards, or announcements for baby's birth the designs and message that you are going to print is engraved into a metal die which uses ink that seeps into the grooves. Laser engraving has grown in popularity and in many cases it has taken over the older printing style of engraving. It is much easier to use and requires far less skill. Most times it is tied into a computer program which controls all of the laser movements. You can etch an intricate logo or print a phone number. There simply aren't any restrictions. In the past before the invention of photography engraving was used to illustrate books and newspapers. Up until the 19th century wood engraving was used. The image was drawn on a block of wood by the artist and then the engraver engraved the picture into the wood. Engraving has been used on jewelry for thousands of years. It has long been a common practice to engrave a message into a jewelry piece that's going to be a gift and recently brides and grooms are engraving their wedding bands. Modern times see us engraving gifts much more often. And laser wood engraving is just one of the popular techniques used these days. . So whether that gift is a pen, cuff links, a bracelet, ring, money clip, flask, jewelry box, or key chain having that special message engraved is no trouble at all.
