Liberty Spikes: Mohawk Style
|
Define your choice. Check out images and pictures of different styles and colors before trying to make one. Be sure to look for the one that you like, so check for position, dimensions and form. Go for the classic Mohawk style or choose the more dramatic liberty spikes or anything in between. If you fancy a liberty spike, fanned mohawk or deathhawk you must start by shaving off all the hair on your head except a small stripe right in the middle, from front to the back. For the dreadhawk style you need to have dreads before shaving it off or you can use a professional hand if you are in a hurry. Mainly used in UK, the CrossHawk style is a little different than the regular mohawks and you will need to shave all the hair, leaving the stripe across the head, from one ear to another. Plan ahead your style. Use your hand to stretch out the hair where the mowahk will be and look in the mirror, adjusting the thickness and position until you like what you see. A standard mohawk has enough hair to cover a stripe just as thick as the distance between your eyebrows. Start by wetting your hair and comb it down in two sides, marking one line where the mohawk starts. Shave the rest off. You may want to keep some hair on the sides, but for a hard-core punk look shaving is the best option. Use a hair clipper for clipping down the hair on the sides or a trimmer and razor to shave it off. When you are done, wash your hair a couple of times to remove any hair clippings. Using your hand, a comb or a brush, stretch out the mohawk and start fanning it out. For longer than eight inches mohawks use a head-shape cut cardboard with holes or a stripe cut in it for help. Use Elmer's glue and hairspray to keep it in shape and remove the cardboard and continue reinforcing the hair using glue or more hairspray. Keep adding hair glue with your hand making sure that your mohawk has enough support. Add more hairspray on all the length of the hair and start blowing it dry once enough support glue is added. Do not rush, keep blowing until it is perfectly dry and the hair will have enough stiffness to support itself. You must do the same for each spike. Comb, glue and spray; blowing it dry will assure your liberty spikes the perfect look and endurance. When done, use an additional layer of hairspray for extra protection. Use any kind of color combination you desire for a more shocking result. About The Author: Visit www.articleclick.com for additional article contributions by Pearle Tsuji. |
