While weddings and proms are definitely two of the most popular reasons that people choose to rent limousines, they are by far definitely not the only reason. Increasingly, many people are choosing to take a limo to and from the airport. One of the reasons this avenue of transportation has become so popular is that it can be a hassle to leave your car in the parking lot while you're away on an extended trip. In many cases, it can actually be cheaper to take a limo to and from the airport rather than pay the hefty parking fees associated with leaving your vehicle while you're gone. In addition to the fact that you won't have to worry about your car being vandalized or stolen while you're away.
If you're considering renting a limousine to travel to and from the airport; however, there are a few factors that you should take into consideration in order to determine whether it is the right choice for you as well as whether it is more economical than other choices.
Limousine airport transfers are determined in a variety of methods. One of the ways that some limousine companies charge for transfer trips is by the number of passengers. While it may be surprising, the more passengers you have in the vehicle, the more it may cost; if this is how that particular company chooses to bill. The type of vehicle that you choose can also have an impact on the amount that you pay. Today many people are most familiar with the long super-stretch limousines; however opting for a luxury sedan instead can definitely save you money. If you're not planning to transport more than four people to the airport, this is definitely the way to go.
If for some reason; however, you need to transport more people then you may well need a larger vehicle. The super stretch limos can accommodate up to ten or more passengers. Mid-range models can accommodate six and eight passengers comfortably. While some companies do charge more for larger passenger parties, if you and the other passengers agree to split the total bill, you may actually end up paying less than you would if you were to take a taxi. Given the fact that you can enjoy more luxurious surroundings, typically better service and a few nicer amenities; renting a limousine to travel to and from the airport can be an option that is too irresistible to turn down.
Another pricing method commonly used is to charge by the travel distance to your destination. This basically means that the longer you travel, the more the trip will cost you. If you do not live or work far from the airport, this isn't a problem; but if the trip will involve some distance, expect a larger bill.
While some companies do charge more according to the number of passengers transported, other companies give you a break on the price if you opt for what is known as a shared ride. Instead of taking a private ride with no other stops or passenger pick-ups, your transport may involve making a few detours and stops to either pick-up or drop-off other passengers. If you don't mind visiting with strangers and sharing a confined space then the savings on your rate can be a big bonus. On the other hand, if you're even slightly claustrophobic and would rather not make small talk with strangers, you're better off opting for the more expensive private ride. Considering the peace and luxury you get for the price, it may be well worth it.
