LoJack Helps Authorities Recover Construction Equipment

The stolen equipment was recovered in Houston, Texas after it was shipped to the country from Gennevilliers, France. The stolen equipment was hidden in the hold of a ship but LoJack was still able to trace where the vehicle is. This is the key to the recovery of the vehicle and also a demonstration of what LoJack's system can do. Last month, Traqueur, LoJack's French licensee, was alerted that three construction equipment stolen from Kiloutou, one of the leading rental construction equipment companies in France. The said equipment has been stolen by a customer who fronted as a general manager of a non-existent company. Upon learning that one of the equipment is equipped with a LoJack system, Traqueur immediately activated the device on the vehicle which then started sending out signals about its location. One week after the theft, British Law Enforcement in Tilbury Harbor in Liverpool, England tracked the signal from the LoJack device on one of the equipment. The signal shows that the equipment was loaded in a ship's hold arriving from Anvers, Belgium. It was then decided that the ship will be tracked along its journey and the stolen equipment to be recovered on the ship's final destination. French and American law enforcement agencies worked together to track the progress of the ship which passed by Charleston, South Carolina and Miami, Florida before reaching its destination in Houston, Texas. On February 1, US Customs recovered the Komatsu loader, JCB excavator, and the hydraulic hammer stolen from Kiloutou. Apart from these, a skid steer stolen from another French company was recovered. Ronald V. Waters, LoJack president and COO, said that the recent part played by LoJack in recovering stolen equipment just shows how effective their recovery solution is. This recovery not only proves the effectiveness of our technology, it also demonstrates the quality working relationship LoJack has with law enforcement officials worldwide," he added. LoJack's system is not only available for large vehicles such as those stolen equipment but also for passenger vehicles like the Audi tail lights -equipped Audi R8.
