Losing Weight Shouldn't Be Complicated
|
So the focus has been taken from simply restricting food intake, onto ensuring the metabolism (the body's engine) is running at a healthy level. This ensures the maximum amount of fuel (calories) is burnt every single minute of the day and night while you are resting and while you are exercising. Weight loss can only occur when the body can burn off more calories than it consumes which is governed by the state of your metabolic engine. This is affected by two factors: how much food a person consumes in a day, and how active the metabolism is at breaking down and burning off that food. For this reason, it is obvious how important it is to boost the metabolism and keep it running at a healthy, efficient level so your very own brigade of workers can deal to your fat stores. The most important factor in maintaining a healthy metabolism is the amount of lean muscle tissue you have on your body. This highly active tissue is what burns a large amount of fuel each day to maintain itself and is the mechanism that drives the rate of your metabolism. Because of our largely 'work' free and inactive modern day lives, from the mid 20's on we start to lose this precious tissue at the rate of one half pound each year. The rate of muscle loss doubles after age 50, causing the metabolism to plummet allowing excess body fat to accumulate and exposing us to increased health and disease risks. To ensure you retain the maximum amount of lean muscle tissue as the years pass is to have a strength training program firmly set into your life. To hold on to as much muscle tissue as possible it will be necessary to challenge the muscular system with greater loads than they get to experience in every day life. Anything less will simply not work. Although you may find a regular exercise program inconvenient it will be far more inconvenient to experience the health problems that will come somewhere down the track if you do nothing to address the problem of muscle tissue loss and a slowing metabolism. Make no mistake about the type of activity that will work your muscles and bones properly. Long, slow steady state activities such as walking, jogging or cycling that we used to believe back in the 1980's was all we needed to do to stay fit is now considered not intense enough to challenge our muscles in the way they need to stimulate the youthful hormones that keep us healthy. Along with your proper exercise program you need to eat in such a way as to support the program and give you enough energy to be able to put some effort into it. Try and eat 5-7 small meals each day centered around 20 grams of protein for the ultimate proven weight loss meal plan. Add lots of raw and cooked vegetables to your protein source, eat a small meal every 2-3 hours and you have a recipe to supercharge your metabolic engine for fat burning, anti aging, loads of energy and optimal health.
