What are low profile tires? Are they only a fad meant for those that want to imprint a racer look to their cars, or are they the best solution that is to make your car run like the wind on the roads? Appearance may be something you enjoy for your car, but you must consider other issues, as well, when it comes to install low profile tires on it. As said before, appearance may be important, but not when racing on the streets on over eighty miles per hour. It is hard to tell who would be able to look at your tires at such speed. Safety must not be ignored when driving at increased speed, and these are the issues that we are about to discuss, related to low profile tires. Just think about it: all that keeps your car on the ground, while you may feel like flying, are four rubber tires, so this is why this matter is important for you. There are certain aspects where tires must perform well, if you want to keep your car and yourself out of any damage or harm. A tire must have grip with the asphalt and contact, so your car does not go off the road when you least expected. Low profile tires have a broad but short contact patch, while high profile tires have narrow, but long contact patch. You may have not understand anything from this. This is how it works: on different types of road, you will need to have different tires installed on your car. Low profile tires will perform better when taking steep curves than the high profile tires, and this is what you should know. With their better cornering effect, low profile tires are the right choice also because the rubber uses less of the diameter of the wheel and you have a bigger wheel, as a result. You will be able to stop the car right on the spot, only due to this capability.Where do low profile tires work less proficiently? We have only spoken of the advantages so far. But low profile tires are not universally adapted, so they do not work the same way for any type of road. For instance, on bumpy roads, you will experience less comfort as you would feel with high profile tires. A trip on a road like this will wear you out, and your car and tires, as well. But where would you go to have to deal with bumpy roads? Most of the time, we drive our vehicles on highways, where the asphalt is flat and without any bumps. Now you understand why we think that low profile tires are the best; but it is your call to decide which ones are the best for your vehicle and your requirements.
