Make Your Own Sink Skirt
|
The first thing that you should when you are getting ready to make your own sink skirt is measure from the sink, where you want to attach the skirt to the floor. You will then need to measure the sink itself from side to side, to see how much fabric you will need to buy. Remember when you are buying your fabric for the sink skirt that you will need to allow some fabric for your seam allowance. This will ensure that you can hide the raw edges of your fabric, and still have enough to get the job done. Once you have purchased your fabric, you will be ready to sew up the raw edges, and give it a nice hem. You can do this with a serger or a sewing machine either one. Be sure that your iron is hot, and that you can press as you sew for the best results. Once you have the hem sewn up all around your sink skirt, you will be ready to attach it to the sink. When you are getting ready to attach the sink skirt to your sink, you will find that you can do this a few different ways. You can use velcro and hot glue, or just a hot glue gun. You might even find that you prefer a rod that will go around the bottom of your sink as well. That will work just fine, and you will be able to move the fabric around the rod. Be sure if you are using a rod to attach the skirt that you made a rod pocket on the skirt. If not, you will have to go back and add that pocket. As you can see, making your own sink skirt can be a lot of fun. You will love the idea that you made the skirt yourself, your friends and family will be in awe of your talents. You will love showing it off, and it might even bring a smile to your face every time you look at it. About The Author: Alphonso has been working in the home remodeling industry for last 5 years.
