Making the Most of the Space in Your Self Storage Unit

At some point in your life, you may happen upon an occasion where you need a self storage solution. The reasons that people find themselves in need of self storage are infinite. Whether you are moving, building a home, going through a divorce, or just like to collect stuff, self storage may prove to be the solution you need.
Once you have chosen a self storage unit, then the next logical is packing it. Packing your self storage unit is not as simple as tossing all of your stuff into the container – the job should be approached with some level of organization or you may find yourself frustrated. This dilemma can be solved by just a bit of planning prior to even putting the first item in your self storage unit.
Before you start piling all of your belongings into the storage container haphazardly, the first thing you will need to is to take inventory. Make a list of everything that needs to be packed in the unit. List all of the things that will need to be stored away in the unit. After you have listed everything, arrange the items on the list in the order that you will require them. It makes no sense to pack something that you will need immediately at the back of your self storage unit.
All of the items you can pack into boxes should be put into boxes. This will make it much easier to load and unload the items from your self storage container. Try and select boxes that are similar in size. If you have a lot of books, do not pack them into one large box. If you make this mistake, you will find that it is nearly impossible to move the box. Plus the box may also break. Pack books in smaller boxes that are easy to maneuver. Be sure to pack all boxes as full as possible and fill any leftover space with old sheets or newspapers. This will help keep the boxes from collapsing when they are stacked.
If you have rented a larger self storage unit, it is helpful to leave some walking space between furniture and boxes. In this way, you will have quick easy access to the items in your self storage unit when you need them. Another thing to keep in mind as you pack your self storage is to make sure that boxes containing heavy items are packed in first with lighter boxes stacked on top of them.
If you keep these tips in mind when loading your self storage container, you will be able to load as many items as possible into the space. Self storage is a wonderful solution for storing your belongings. Taking the time to pack your self storage in an organized manner will ensure that you get the most out of your storage space and also ensure that your experience is a pleasant one.
