Male Yeast Infection Symptoms

Though most people equate yeast infections with women, the fact is that men can and do get yeast infections too. Male yeast infection symptoms differ from female symptoms; in fact, they are often so mild that men don't notice them, which can be a problem. If you are a man and your female sexual partner tells you that she has been diagnosed with a yeast infection, then you should assume that you have one too. If you don't have it cleared up, you could give it right back to your sexual partner after she cures hers, and it can become a vicious cycle. You need to remember that male yeast infection symptoms are many times nonexistent, so you can't use that as a gauge for whether you have one or not.

Even though male yeast infection symptoms might not be noticeable, if you have an infection and you don't get it treated, then somewhere down the line you could have more serious problems. You also need to remember that even though many times the symptoms aren't noticeable, sometimes they are. If you have itching during urination or intercourse or a milky discharge from the penis, this could be a yeast infection. Any time that you have symptoms like these it means that something is wrong, even if they aren't really male yeast infection symptoms.

Male yeast infection symptoms, and the infection itself, can be treated with internal anti-fungal medications as well as anti-fungal creams. This usually clears up the problem, although it's a good idea to refrain from sexual intercourse until the yeast infection is gone. Taking antibiotics can also cause yeast infections. There are good bacteria in your system that keep it balanced, and antibiotics don't differentiate between good and bad bacteria, and will kill them all. This will cause an imbalance, and often a yeast infection.

If you have noticeable male yeast infection symptoms, there's no need to panic. Make an appointment with your doctor and tell him about your symptoms. He will give you an examination and then prescribe the proper medication for you. You want to make sure that you keep your groin area clean while you are treating the yeast infection. It should clear up quickly, and you should have no lingering side effects. If the medication doesn't seem to clear up the problem, see your doctor again. You might actually have something else, or just a particularly stubborn yeast infection.
