Master of Ceremonies - Tips to Help You Pull it Off

Have you been asked to be a master of ceremonies at the wedding of a friend or family member? If so, then it's quite an honor. While you may be thrilled with this honor at first, you suddenly may be wondering what you need to do and if you'll really be able to be up there in front of all those people and pull it off. Well, basically if you are the MC at a wedding, you are going to be in charge of making sure that all the events go smoothly and occur on time. You'll make announcements of events, introduce speakers, and be the guide through everything that occurs. However, even if you are nervous, you'll find that with these tips, being the master of ceremonies should be a breeze.

Tip #1 - Take Some Notes - First of all, it's important that you take some notes along with you. You don't want to be up there in front of everyone, only to get nervous and forget something very important. So, have some notes with you to help guide you along as you MC the wedding.

Tip #2 - Look Up - It's also important that as the master of ceremonies you look up, and look all around the room while you are speaking. Make sure that you give a nice smile to everyone as well and avoid looking down too often. Sure, it's okay to look at your notes, but you need to make sure that you keep your eyes up as much as possible.

Tip #3 - Breathe - Take some deep breaths as well when you are getting ready to start out. Taking a few deep breaths will help to calm you down, slow your heart rate, and provide your brain with plenty of oxygen, which is important. Also, even while you are speaking, work to make sure that you control your breathing and breath deeply to keep yourself calm.

Tip #4 - Hold Eye Contact - It's also important that as the master of ceremonies you work to establish and shortly hold some eye contact with the people that you are speaking to. While you won't want to just start at someone the entire time that you are speaking, making eye contact with various people is important.

Tip #5 - Speak Clearly - Speaking clearly is also very important if you are the master of ceremonies. You want to make sure that everyone is going to be able to hear you and understand what you are saying. So, avoid mumbling and keep your speech very clear and concise.
