Mattress Sizes Continued...

When I was in college, I did not know about mattress sizes. I did not get a new mattress when I moved away from home. I was given a queen size mattress that had been in my family's guest room. I really liked the queen size bed. I had slept in a twin size bed for as long as I could remember. I didn't have much money to decorate when I first started out. I shopped for old sheets at the Goodwill store in my town. I was able to get lots of sheets that were nice for a big bargain. The first night in my queen size bed, I slept better then I had slept in years. After college, I moved into my first apartment. I had friends helping me move and things didn't go so well. I wish that I had been able to pay for professional movers. My friends had everything out of the moving van and on the sidewalk up to my new apartment. When the rain came, my friends ran for cover. They didn't run to cover up my belongings. My queen size mattress was ruined. I went to the Salvation Army to see what mattress sizes they had available. I was surprised to find a bed size called Olympic Queen. This mattress was six inches wider than my regular queen. I was fortunate as well that the former owners of this mattress had also donated two sets of sheets when they donated the old mattress. I knew that the mattress that I had gotten at the Salvation Army was a great find. I also knew that it was a used mattress and that I would need to replace it in about two years. Around the time that I was thinking I needed to replace the mattress, I met the man that would ultimately turn out to be my husband. We dated for awhile and we decided to get married. We moved into a newly constructed house in a suburb of the town we met in. My husband is very tall. He went with me to the store when I was selecting our new bed. Because of his height, we selected a California Queen. The California Queen bed did the job for two years before it got retired to the guest room. My husband and I wanted a bigger bed. The length of the California Queen was just right for him. I went online and checked the various mattress sizes and found that the California King mattress was going to be just what we needed. I was able to order online and have the mattress delivered to our home in just ten days. I also found that there were lots of places that were selling sheets for California King Size sheets.
