Near death experiences have occurred through out history, in all parts of the world and ideas about this have helped to shape our view about the spirit world. Whatever people believe near death experiences certainly seem to point to the existence of a spirit world. Many people believe that the near death experience proves the existence of an afterlife, that there is life after death in a literal sense. Others consider that the experience does not constitute proof of an afterlife, but that it suggests that some aspect of human consciousness which could be known as psyche or soul maybe independent of the physical body and may survive death. There are sceptical opinions that the person who has undergone a near death experience was hallucinating due to severe stress. The near death experience is a very powerful experience and could lead to an alteration of that person’s perceptions of what is real and important in their life. People who have had a near death experience often recall the presence of the spirit world because they encounter the presence of deceased loved ones and other entities and a very bright light and some report darkness. Many people who experience this talk about recognising some pattern and meaning of life and the universe. Some people receive messages from the spirit world and many people go on to become Mediums communicating regularly with the spirit world. The experience of near death is unique to the individual, however, there are some common patterns as follows: There is the feeling that they have left the body and that they are hovering above their bodies. They talk of moving through a dark space or tunnel, they experience incredibly intense emotions ranging from utter bliss to being terrified. They often describe a golden or white light and that they are being drawn towards this which they experience as beautiful and radiant, although some may perceive it as a reflection of the fires of hell. Many people including my self have been told that it isn’t their time yet immediately before returning to their body. People often meet their loved ones on the other side and describe them as ‘beings of light’. Some people have their entire life flash before them leading to revelations about what changes need to be made in their life. They seem to be changed after such an experience as if they have an understanding of everything and how the universe works.The near death experience can be life changing and is often the catalyst to some transition or shift in a person’s being.
