Tip #2 - Keep it Short - It's important that you keep these messages short and sweet. No one wants to read a three page letter when they are going through grief. Tip #3 - Avoid Drama - You'll also want to avoid being dramatic in the message you write. You don't need any graphic words to describe the death and you don't need to get overly emotional yourself in the letter. Keep it sincere instead of included a huge amount of drama. Tip #4 - Make it Personal - Make sure that you keep your message personal as well. Make sure that you share their sadness and let them know that you will be there for them if they need you. It is okay to talk about the death that occurred as long as you do it in a sincere way. Just make sure that they know they are not alone and that you are there to offer them support. Tip #5 - Mention Upbeat Memories - Sharing some upbeat memories is a great idea when you are writing sympathy messages as well.
