The Internet is the best place to start searching for additional fonts to your program. Some are free, but some will require you to pay a fee so you can download them into your computer and use them. There are font libraries that are sold on CDs, too. If you know what you are dealing with, then you know that Windows allows the use of TrueType fonts, OpenType fonts, and Type 1 fonts. This must be the only requirement when searching for new fonts.
Fonts that are downloadable from the Internet come in .zip files, as the compression allows for a bigger file to be downloaded at a faster rate. Unzip the file, by locating it with Windows Explorer; after that right click on the file name and select Extract All from the menu that will appear.
Here is how you add the font, once the file has been decompressed. Go to the Start button and click on it, then choose Control Panel from the menu that appears. From Control Panel, choose Category view, and then Appearance and Themes. There you will find Fonts and you must click on this option. From the File menu, choose Install New Font. A window named Add Fonts will appear and you will see there a list of drives from where you may add the font you want. If the fonts come on a CD, then you need to select the Drives list arrow and choose the CD as the wanted drive.
The Folders list will pop up on the screen and you can move through them in order to get to the font that you like to install on your computer. Once you do that, Windows will update the list of fonts that is located at the top. From that list, you can click on the font you want to install, or you can use the Select All button, so you install all the fonts from the list. Be aware that the "Copy fonts to Fonts folder" box must be checked. Once you click OK, the installation process will begin and you can now close the Fonts window.
With this, installing the fonts is complete. When you will open Word again, you will see all the new fonts in the Font list, and you can start using them as you see fit. You may want to experiment a little with the new fonts, before applying them in your official documents.
You may be tempted to use an awful amount of fonts into your documents. That would not be such a clever decision, as too much font variation in a document will make it look unprofessional. Plus, some fonts are more difficult to read, which means that your document, as well, will be harder to understand.
