Here's some advice to consider when shopping for your mother of the bride clothes. If you choose to have a conventional ceremony, the ma of the bride will want to obtain her dress before the mum of the groom. After she chooses the color, style and cut of her dress, she will be able to inform the grooms mom, who can then make her call based mostly on what the mom of the bride is wearing. They can coordinate so that they can have similar but unique styles, that may make photos of the entire marriage party look that much better. If the groom has a step mother, the only rule is that the bride's mum always chooses her dress first, so that she will be able to avoid having too similar a dress. The one exception to this would be if the step-mother raised the groom as her own boy ( if the grooms farther is widowed ), in which case the rules are the same as if she were her real mom. So far as colors are concerned , there are some that are going to be evaded. White, off-white, or anything near should be avoided. This includes champagne shades as well . Really dark and very bright colours should also be evaded. Pastels and nice subdued colours are excellent choices. The idea that the brides mother should find a dress like that of the bridesmaids is old-fashioned. There can be some similarity, but do not go too far. The very last thing to consider is that not everybody looks the good in each color. Your mom may not look her prettiest in colours that go completely with your marriage colours, so you each could need to bend a little and comprimise to find the best fit. She wants to look and feel gorgeous on your marriage day too, so keep that in mind. It's a daunting task finding the mother of the bride clothes that are good for both you and her, but with some effort and carefully thought out coordinating, it can be done.
