All new riders must pass this interim license test in order to get a temporary license to drive a motorcycle. Not to long ago if you held a full car license you could ride a motorcycle with out taking a learners test. But in most places after 2001 you had to take the learner test and pass before you could ride.
You will have to check with your local motor vehicle branch of it hours some will only allow interim theory testing on certain days and even only during certain hours. Most branches have a basic manual that you can get from then. How ever you should supplement with good books.
When you go to right your test you will have to show photo ID as well as your driver's license if you have one. The photo ID must have your signature. You may also require other documents current passport or birth certificate even medical card. You should check with the branch you plan to take your test at.
The test will take any where from 30 to 40 minutes most exams are multiple choice. Your will have four or five answers to choose from. Some may have all correct answer but they are looking for the best one. Your test will consist of road signs or lane pictures showing a variety of situations. To pass you will need to have achieve 80% or better. At most locations this test is taken on a computer with a touch screen. Normally you have up to 15 minutes to get aquainted with the system.
There are over one thousand different questions in the computer banks. It is recommended that you buy a book containing all questions and answers so you are familiar with many of them.
People with special needs will be allowed extra time to write the test. The test is also available in 15 different languages. If for some reasons you fail do not worry or be to hard on yourself as 50 % fail the first time they take the test. There are no limits as to the number of times you can take the test. There are also no time limits as to when you have to complete the test. So take your time, study hard, and learn the theory as it will give you a good foundation of the basics and help you when you start riding.
Before you can apply for you practical road test you will need to take and complete the compulsory basic training lessons. It is advisable you take driving lessons from a good driving school as they will teach you all aspects of motorcycle riding the right way. They will also prepare you and help you to fill out all the forms that may be needed for the next step in attaining your full motorcycle license.
Just think, it won't be long before you are riding your motorcycle and enjoying the freedoms that only a motorcycle can provide.
