Musical Keyboards For A Reasonable Price

Top of the range musical keyboards are expensive but basic models or second-user equipment, which can frequently be found on e-bay or in the classified section of local newspapers, can be purchased for a comparatively small amount of money. Once you discover the joys of playing on a basic model you will no doubt look for a more technical model to develop your skills. The more basic models are usually smaller in size and less complicated and therefore more suitable for beginners to use. Prices vary between $15 and $75 for new basic models or if looking at the secondhand market these prices would buy you a model with a slightly higher specification.

Keyboards costing less than $50 new, usually have less than fifty keys and only two or three instrumental choices. The most common manufacturers of basic models are Casio or Kawasaki and the equipment is normally battery powered rather than mains. Models produced by less well known manufacturers will have a higher specification for a similar price. Before you buy check the specification on a number of models. For example one model may have more instrumental choices than another. Another very useful option for the practicing beginner is a headphone connection - it saves the rest of the family from insanity.

Secondhand musical keyboards are often a very good buy as you can expect the specification to be higher than that of a new model at a similar price. A secondhand 61-key Casio was bought on eBay just a few weeks ago for $55 whereas a new Casio with a specification that almost matches is currently priced at $99.

99. Portatone keyboards manufactured by Yamaha are approaching the higher end of the technical range but can frequently be found on the secondhand market selling for less than $70. A couple of tips whenever buying secondhand equipment, ask if you can try it out and make sure if it is battery powered that there is no damage to the battery holder.

Another point to consider when purchasing musical keyboards is how is it powered? If it is mains powered it will need an AC adapter. If your purchase is secondhand check that this adapter is included in the sale. It will not work without it. If battery operated make sure that you have the correct batteries. This is especially important if your purchase is going to be a present for someone. There is nothing worse than to receive a present that you cannot try out immediately. If the person who is benefiting from your present is a beginner consider adding a learner book to help get them started.

There are numerous outlets where reasonably priced musical keyboards can be found for sale such as the classified section of your local newspaper or eBay.com. Look out for garage sales in your area. Frequently, secondhand musical keyboards have been hardly used and can be picked up for a fraction of their real value. Wal-Mart are currently showing on their website a Casio keyboard which is available priced at $47.

27 and Target's website lists various models including two new Kawasaki keyboards which are priced at $15-30. Happy music making.
