My Mother Emancipate My Life

"Living "la vida loca" (the good life) carries a completely different meaning for ORM Associate Evangelist Adrian Compton than it once did." Winner of the South American International Star Search competition as a university student, with a successful South American recording contract that followed, Adrian shortly found himself living a life of rapid-fire success. But the "good life" was anything but good for this gifted young man in his early 20s. What started with a promise never to compromise quickly deteriorated due to consistent pressure of the many worldly accoutrements that encircled him. Proud of her son's success, but terribly nervous about where his life was headed, it was Adrian's mom, Lety Compton, who threw out a lifeline to her son. Even when their own relationship became strained, she continually reminded him that God had something better for his life.

Saved at the age of 12 while concerned in a National Finals college competition, Adrian commenced doing humanitarian and missions work in many Central and South America states while still in middle school. Assisting a beloved teacher and mentor, he changed into a quick learner as he traveled, singing and ministering to those less lucky, as their team worked in conditions of extreme poverty.
But the dream in Adrian's heart was to make it in the music business. With the Star Search championship, that dream became reality…until it virtually consumed his life. In that time, Adrian continued his missions work saying, "I would take time off and attempt and leave my worldly living behind me so I could travel and minister." But that became harder over time.

Waking up one day and realizing that if he continued the trail he was on, he would meet an early grave, Adrian "came to himself" in the way the Bible described what happened to the prodigal boy in Luke 15 and he gave his life back to the Lord. He realized his ma was right and that God did have something more for his life.

Today, Adrian a pros of divinity graduate uncovers himself living a different kind of "good life." this occassion, it has zilch to do with the accoutrements of fame, but is defined by catching a plane before dawn to travel to bankrupt areas of the planet where he will evangelise the Gospel, sing about God's goodness, and help provide everyday necessities of food and drugs to folks in need through the efforts of Oral Roberts Ministries and Hunger requires A Voice's medical and feeding outreaches.
Says Adrian, "I'm grateful I've had the chance to help open up some of the South American nations to Richard's ministry. Besides helping to set up the contacts we want to get in, I've also had the privilege of going into folks's houses who are too sick to come to our crusades and praying with them right there.

The wishes are so great. And our being there truly talks to the people.
