NAS Hard Drive - Several Options to Consider



There are several different types of external hard drives available out there today. Many of them actually use an eSATA connection, USB, or even FireWire to connect with your computer. These are directly attached into your computer. However, for those that have networks at home or for their business, a NAS hard drive, which is a network attached storage drive, may be a great option available. It essentially connects into the entire network. All you'll need is a Gigabit Ethernet cable to do the job. Then everyone on the network is able to access this drive. Here's a look at some of the options available if you are looking for a good NAS hard drive.

HP Media Vault MV2120

One option that you have available when you need a great NAS hard drive is the HP Media Vault MV2120. This is an excellent device that will cost you about $300 and it holds 500 GB. You can even add another hard drive to it if you want to. It's convertible with various adapters and there are two USB ports on it as well. When it comes to ratings, this hard drive gets great ratings, making it a wonderful choice for you when you are looking for a network attached storage drive for your computers.

1 TB Maxtor Shared Storage II

Another great option to consider is the 1 TB Maxtor Shared Storage II, which is an excellent NAS hard drive. This is a bit more expensive, costing you about $380, depending on where you decide to purchase it. It works with Windows or Macs, and you can have it networked with up to 20 different computers. There are two 500 GB hard drives that are put together. It's easy to add peripherals as well, since it comes with two USB ports as well. You can also buy the Maxtor in 500 GB version or even a 320 GB version, and these are both cheaper than the 1 TB option.

D-Link DNS-323

If you want a cheaper option that is still quality, you'll find that the D-Link DNS-323 is a great NAS hard drive to consider. It only will cost you about $180 for it, and if you want a cheap option that will allow you to install your own drive, this is a great choice out there today. It comes highly recommended and has a lot to offer. So, this is yet another great hard drive that you can add to your network without having to spend a huge amount of money.
