Nautical Themed Bedroom - Add Lighthouse Comforters

Bedroom décor deserves more attention then it often gets. If you've got a love for the ocean then why not do a nautical themed bedroom. And for that perfect finishing touch add lighthouse comforters.

Now I bet your wondering why I say comforters. Yes you are going to need more than one, and you'll have to read on to find out why. Nautical themes are one of the most fun themes to do. With so much authentic materials available the room gets a very warm and down to earth feel. It's a great place to unwind and get in touch with yourself.

Wondering what nautical items to add to your room. Consider these.
1. Old fish nets
2. Shells
3. Sand
4. Starfish
5. Fishing rods
6. Japanese floats
7. Ships Wheel
8. Compass
9. Ships Clock
10. Port & Starboard lights

Of course there are plenty of other nautical items you can add but these ten give great impact. Old fish nets strung from the ceiling give a great effect. They can also be used for storage spaces and if you are really creative you can use them to create a canopy for your bed.

Shells and sand can be made into decorative displays for walls and dresser. Redo a lamp shade with shells. Set up a candle arrangement in sand. Use your fishing rod to produce a wall display.

One of my favorite additions are the Japanese floats. No matter what you do with them they always look fabulous! Hand them from the ceiling. Create interesting arrangements. Whatever you do be sure to enjoy the unique beauty they offer.

A ships wheel looks great on the wall and if you want to be creative you can turn it into a hat or belt rack. A ships clock is not only decorative it's functional and a ship's compass adds a nice touch.

The port and starboard lights are another of my favorites. Mount them on your wall and be sure to leave the green and red lamps in place. They look fabulous and they actually throw more light then you might think.

The finishing touches should be your lighthouse comforters. Now we want not one but at least two. They should be layers on your bed and they should contrast each other. One should be thicker and more functional while the other purely an accent piece.

Fold in half in the middle of the bed, toss as a throw, lie on an angle, or place at the foot of the bed. The two add depth and dimension to the room.

A quilted comforter also looks great as wall art. In fact it looks more than great, it looks fantastic. Choose a size that's slightly smaller than bed size. A twin or double works very good.

Your nautical room is going to look great especially with your lighthouse comforters. There is no other theme that's so grounding and fun to do. So are you ready to get started?
