The joy of having a new friend following the arrival of your puppy or older dog in your home is usually reduced by the realization that you have to train your dog to cohabit with you conveniently.

Of course, it can be quite an issue if you are inexperienced as most new dog owners are most likely to be. Dog training demands for some informed knowledge. Find below some tips to help you keep out the frustrating experience of those who tried to train their dogs without some basic dog training information.

1. Do not let the first day pass before you initiate the first dog training session for your dog. Begin the same day the puppy arrives your home. Let him understand that you have rules you would like it to follow.

2. Provide a Crate for your puppy. Crates make for better puppy control in your house. And the Crate gives your dog the natural den experience, as it would in the wild. And if you have to move or transport your dog, the crate comes handy. You can also, very conveniently, take your puppy to the vet in a crate.

Nonetheless, under no circumstance should you keep your dog in the Crate for longer than 4 hours at a time. If that happens, it could encourage your puppy or dog to use its crate as a toilet. And once the habit of toileting in the crate has been formed it is hard to break. Note that your puppy or dog will naturally experience a bowel movement every four hours.

3. Realize that your puppy will potty when nature calls without asking for your permission; it therefore behooves you to study it and find out its toilet pattern and make it possible for it to recognize its designated toilet so that it does not defecate wherever he is when nature calls. Most dogs experience bowel movements after each meal, after playing hard and immediately after waking from a slumber.

4. To get your dog to be well behaved, do not show anger or frustration while with it. Your dogs is a sensitive animal. It would react to your countenance, tone of voice and general deportment. In most cases it will later play back those feelings towards you and other members of your family. You are to be very cheerful with your dog during training sessions. A dog that is afraid will not learn commands easily. Produce a sense of camaraderie that circulates positive vibrations and your dog will pick them up and so be in a better mind-set to engage your commands.

5. Unless your primary purpose of owning your dog is for security purposes, you must ensure that your puppy socializes. Eating, sleeping and training are all important but don't forget to take time to exercise and play with your dog.

I hope that the above tips have offered you some knowledge of dog training. You now have some informed knowledge on some aspects of dog training to help you train your puppy, so you can now go get your puppy and teach it to be a respectable member of your household.
