You will need the following ingredients to make your special oatmeal bath: some plain, with no flavors, oatmeal, lavender buds, essential oils (like lavender), some paper filter for your coffee machine, a ribbon with which you will tie your bag, Epsom salt, butter milk and a few scented candles, if you like.
You will need three quarter of a cup with oatmeal that you will mash in a bowl, to eliminate all the clumps from it. Now, take the lavender buds and break them in a bowl. To add to the flavor, pick an essential oil that you love the smell and put is with all the other ingredients. Make sure that you mix all of them well enough, that each ingredient is well incorporated in the final mixture. You will then take this mixture and put it in a coffer filter bag that you will then tie with a ribbon, so it does not spread all over the place.
Your bath tub is where you will prepare your own personal spa experience with an oatmeal bath. Fill it with hot water (as hot as you like) and then pour the buttermilk and let it melt there, under the faucet, while the water is still running, for a quick effect. The oatmeal bag that you prepared will be put on the other end of the bath tub, and not under the running water. Let all the ingredients soak well in the water, so their essence will spread. Lavender and oatmeal will disperse, while the heat goes off. Now it is the time to jump in and enjoy the experience!
After you are finished with your bath, you can take the used bag and throw it in the trashcan, without making any mess. If you like the idea of adding some Epsom salt to the buttermilk, this will help ease the soreness from your muscles, and to make your skin smoother. Use scented candles to create a relaxing atmosphere, and finally apply an exfoliant to your skin made of ground oatmeal and lavender oil to give your skin the ultimate spa experience.
There is a reason why you should not put the bag with the ingredients under running water: as the bag is made of paper, it will be torn apart and you will just have to clean after instead of having a nice relaxing experience.
