Nearly everyone will have some experience of casinos. Whether you are a frequent casino goer or have just seen a casino advert in the street, you would at least be able to figure out what a casino is. So, those of you no concept of what a casino is, what mountain of sand has your head been buried in all these years?
Since the dawn of society, people have been playing cards, so its small wonder that casinos have become popular in such a colossal way. Often, a casino will have a multiplicity of games including poker, blackjack, roulette and lots of slot machines.

In America there are lots of casinos and what used to be a dull mining town, Las Vegas, has now become 'casino central' of the earth. It has reached massive notoriety for stars such as Barry Manilow and also for its show girls and high budget productions on the Vegas strip.

In Las Vegas, casinos are occasionally part of a hotel and have become a massive draw for tourists. Many casinos in Las Vegas have become landmarks in their own right and even as symbols of America itself. Atlantic City also has a reputation for its impressive casinos.

Casinos in the UK are mostly smaller and less garish, but there were plans for a super casino to be positioned in Manchester, until Gordon Brown ended the plans. However, the UK does have many casinos and you will see one in most big towns and cities.

The way that many people will have experienced a casino, if they have not been to one themselves, is through films. Casinos are repeatedly featured in movies and many times have been the backdrop for notorious scenes in flicks such as 21, the Oceans trilogy, Showgirls, Casino and James Bond. Bond fans will also remember that a recent Bond film was named 'Casino Royale'.

Another way that more and more people are experiencing casinos is through the internet. The appeal of online casino has enlarged since the original few came out in the mid nineties. Over the last few of years online casinos have become so admired that new ones are appearing every day. Some places have however forbidden online casinos and gambling in general.

It could be said that a policy prohibiting casinos is damaging to society as governments are missing out on massive amounts of potential tax from casinos, so governments are harming the country more by giving up tax from casinos which could be invested in the economy.
