Office Vs Ergonomic Chair - 5 Differences
|
1. SizeExecutive office chairs are usually much larger than their ergonomic counterpart. They are big, bulky, and comfy looking chairs, where as the ergonomic chair is much smaller, much more functional looking. 2. MaterialThe executive office chair is usually made of richer or plusher fabrics, with leather being the number one choice. The fabric provides an image of luxury and professionalism. The ergonomic chair comes in a variety of colors that are cheery and informal. They are usually found covered with a durable upholstery fabric designed for heavy use and long wear. 3.StyleThe executive office chair is plush, thickly padded, usually portraying an image of power or control. It may have inlaid wood, or a custom design or style. The ergonomic chair is comfortably padded but no where near plush, with a basic design platform consisting of a back support, seat, and swivel castor base. 4. PriceThe executive office chair can cost anywhere from a couple of hundred dollars to a couple of thousand dollars depending on the manufacturer, the quality, and the style. An ergonomic chair can cost anywhere from fifty dollars to a couple of hundred dollars. 5. Life ExpectancyThe executive office chair will often last 20 years or more. Many times it will go out of style long before it wears out. This happens for a couple of reasons. It gets far less use than a work station chair, it is of higher quality and workmanship to begin with, and it is not exposed to all the elements of a work station chair. A work station chair can last anywhere from a year to five years depending on the use. If the poor chair is used 24 hours a day 365 days a year it's going to wear out much quicker. The size of the person in relation to the chair size also plays a role in how long a chair will last. Work station chairs are often shared and exposed to more elements than an executive office chair so the fabric tends to wear thin, or the padding begins to break down. Both executive office chairs and ergonomic chairs have a place in our corporate world. Each provides features pertaining to its use. Big bulky work station chairs would be non functional and cause injury. Well at the same time the manager of the bank wouldn't make much of an impression if he met his clients sitting on a tiny ergonomic steno chair. Not only are chairs designed to perform different functions, they also go along way to portraying a specific image.
