Moving day can be a hassle, even if you have already contracted a professional moving company. What you need to know more is how to prepare for movers and packers, so your experience will not be a tiring one.

Your job will be much easier, if you will have what you need at your fingertips. Before the moving day comes knocking on your door, make sure you have plenty of boxes, felt tip pens, packaging tape and some personal organizers handy.

The first step is to gather all the essential stuff that you will be sure that is needed to take with you once you move. On the list must be all your toiletries and clothes, that you can place in a small closet or a cabinet where the packers and the movers will not have easy access.

As the packers and the movers will take care of all the drawers and the cabinets in your house, you will need to get all the objects that can breaks, as well as all the liquids from them, so damage does not occur during moving.

Other items require special attention, as well. For instance, flammable and combustible items must be put aside. If you do not longer need them, throw them under safe conditions, or pack them in a separate box that you can take with you, when you will leave.

Special attention must be paid to jewelry, collections and other personal items that you do not want the packers and movers to handle. As these are special for you, make sure that you are the one to pack them.

Another step in preparing for the moving day is to defrost your refrigerator and take out all the foods that can spoil from it and from the freezer.

Power tools must be drained of oil and fuels. Make sure that your lawn mower, as well as other equipment is in good shape before the packers and movers arrive.

To make your job easier when you will get to the new home, drop all the rugs and the drapes to a cleaning service. Take them from there just before you move and leave them in their wrappings. This way, you will have them all clean and it will be less difficult to put them into your new place.

As far as computers are concerned, make sure that you back up important files, in case that the equipment gets damaged during use. Also, make sure that the CD player does not get stuck with a CD inside.

Pack all the lines and strip the beds from everything. Pack them separately.

Make sure that you know when the packers and movers are to arrive at your residence. This will give you time to organize all your personal things.

If you want the packers and movers to stay off some of your personal stuff, just place all these items in a cabinet or a drawer that you will label "off limits". Some items, like combustibles and flammable, cannot be transported under normal conditions and they have special requirements, so the goods you have are not put in danger because the moving company fails to abide to federal laws. Any aerosol cans, paints, as well as other objects must not be moved by the company, by any means.
