Partial Hysterectomy - It may be an Option for you

A partial hysterectomy is a medical procedure many women have to undergo to offset various types of medical concerns. With advances in medical technology it isn't always necessary for a full hysterectomy to take place. However, many women elect to do so because they don't want to risk having to undergo surgery again in the future. With a partial hysterectomy the ovaries are left in place. Sometimes the cervix is as well but it may be removed to prevent the risk of cancer developing in that area of the female body.


You may be wondering why a woman would opt for a partial hysterectomy. There is a common statement out there that a woman loses a great deal of her sexual enjoyment once the cervix has been removed. Some women experience the wall of the cervix collapsing. This is due to the uterus no longer being there to help secure it in place. The risk of incontinence also will increase for a woman when a partial hysterectomy has occurred. You will need to weigh all of your options to decide what is best for you. Discussing all of the options with your doctor is also something you need to do.


A partial hysterectomy isn't right for every woman but it may be an option for you. It is a good idea to discuss it with your doctor. You may also want to get a second opinion from an outside source. Most medical professionals will offer a free consultation so all it is going to cost you is a bit of your time. You may find that your own doctor doesn't offer a partial hysterectomy procedure.


This is due to them not having the advanced skills to do so. In such a case they may make a referral for you to a specialist that can accommodate such a request. However, you will find that more doctors are taking the time to learn how to perform a partial hysterectomy. They want to be able to offer this option to women that don't necessarily need to have all of their female parts removed during this process.
