When a plane takes off it requires the greatest amount of fuel and energy. Whereas, once the plane is up on in the air it is cruising and taking a lot less energy. The same thing is true when you are starting something new in life, whether that is a health program, a business from home, or a new regime of some kind. It is at the beginning of your journey that you will need the greatest amount of energy, of concentration, and of focus. It is required in order for you to get out of the state of where you are, and moving in the desired direction. The pilots I know have told me that once they are airborne, for the most part they are continuously, and slightly off course by a few degrees. However with the pilot keeping his focus on the instruments, on his destination, and his intention of getting to the desired city - you get there. The same concept applies to you as you go about your day in the weeks, and months that follow your new commitment. As long as you are willing to make minor course corrections you can stay on your path. By observing your actions and getting present, you will gain clarity, and the information you need. Course corrections are generally not about making large shifts but rather minor tweaks. If you have flown at all, you know at times there are major delays, you leave for an intended city, yet due to weather conditions and mechanical problems, there are delays - you may even land elsewhere than intended. When you land in that airport where you did not expect - how do you react? The journey for the delayed passengers will depend more on how they react to the circumstance than anything else. Are you going to choose to befriend another passenger, get to know someone new? Are you going to choose to go to the bookstore, and take some quiet time to enjoy a good book. Or are you going to fret and fuss and be miserable even if you cannot do anything about the situation? The same questions apply in your life when you encounter obstacles. Are you going to choose simply to see them as steppingstones, and make the best of the situation or are you going to put yourself in a state of chaos, anxiety, doubt and fear? The choice is yours. When you start something new, remember that it is at the beginning of your journey that you will need the most energy and focus. While on your journey make a couple of course corrections based on your observations. Choose how you will react to the unexpected detours and delays of your trip while on your journey - you can see the detours as part of the game, part of the story, and therefore exciting, or you can choose to make the detours times that are more difficult than they really are.
