Pineapple Diet - Fact or Fiction
|
Though you don't need to be afraid of a pineapple diet, you should be wary. Pineapple, like most fruits, is nutritious. It contains a healthy amount of vitamin C, as well as minerals like manganese and potassium, which are very good for the body in reasonable amounts. For this reason it is never a bad idea to include pineapple in your diet, whether it is a weight loss diet or just your everyday diet. When you hear about a diet that includes pineapple as the main ingredient for weight loss, however, you want to take a closer look. Though pineapples can give the body a lot of nutrients, it can be detrimental to the body if you eat too much of it and neglect to eat other nutritious foods. For this reason, if you see something called the pineapple diet you want to see how well-rounded it is before you try it. Proponents of the pineapple diet say that a substance contained in pineapples called bromelain is the major factor in helping people to lose weight. Though it is true that this substance can help break down proteins, that doesn't mean that it can help break down fats and flush them from the body like some people say. There simply is no scientific proof that pineapple in and of itself can promote faster weight loss, though it is important to note that citrus fruit is a healthy part of a balanced diet. Pineapple is a very tasty fruit and most people enjoy the flavor. Because of this, it is a great way to satisfy your sweet tooth while still following a low calorie diet. If you are following a pineapple diet that tells you to eat pineapple in place of other essential things such as protein or some fats, then you probably want to think twice about following it. Our bodies need a wide variety of nutrients in order to be at their best. Though pineapple can definitely provide some of these nutrients, you need to eat other types of foods in order to get all that you need. It is fine and even healthy to enjoy pineapple as part of your diet; just make sure that you are getting enough of the other nutritious foods.
