The pixie cut can actually come in a lot of different styles, but the main theme that runs throughout is that it is very short. Obviously this only refers to women, since many men wear their hair very short but their style is not called "pixie". Normally the pixie style is characterized by hair that is too short to swing freely in any way. Hair pixie cuts can be layered, tousled, sleek, wavy, or straightbut they are all short. On some women the cut looks chic and flattering; but whether or not it will look best on you depends on a few factors.
The pixie cut does not shape your face like some other hair cuts can do; it exposes every aspect of your face. This is one reason why some women hesitate to try this cut. If you think your nose is too big or your ears are too big, or your jaw is too square or forehead too high, you know that a pixie style won't hide or soften these things. Most women, of course, exaggerate when talking about their flaws; but it is definitely true that whatever unique features your face or head have, the pixie cut will help people notice them. Whether this is a good or a bad thing is up to you.
Even if someone else advises you that a pixie cut is probably not for you, that doesn't mean that you shouldn't get one. If the thought of having that type of hairstyle really appeals to you, then you should get it. It's your hair and your life, and you need to do what makes you happy. As long as you realize that you are going to have that style for a whilethere's not much you can do to change a pixie haircut if you decide you don't like itthen you should go for it if you want to. There's no arguing that it can be an easy and fun cut to wear.
