To arrange the perfect childrens birthday party, it takes quite a bit of planning. You need to figure out; what to eat, who to invite and what activities to choose for the little ones. Starting early will make the whole process easier, and will also make it more likely that the guests are available. Depending on the age of the birthday kid, there are different activities that are more or less suitable. Keep in mind that children and plans not always go hand in hand, what you think is an excellent activity could very well be yesterday’s news, be prepared to alter any plans you may have. Games and other activities are important, but as is the food, the timing and, of course, the guests. Make a list of all things you should think of, and stick to it. Games and Activities When planning your kid’s birthday party, be sure to ask what he/she would like to do. Don’t just take any games and force them on the kids, be very sure to have a good understanding on what the kids like to play with. What games and activities to choose is not only dependant on what your kid wants, you need to look at what’s possible as well. If you live in a small city apartment, your choices are more limited than if you’d live in Neverland. If you just do not know what games to plan, don’t worry too much about it; most kids have great imagination and will rarely be bored. A good thing to have in mind is the insane volume; yelling, screaming and running will be the most common way of communicating for children. Keeping that in mind, a calm and silent game can come in handy. As always you need to make sure the birthday kid is OK with all games you plan. Food & Beverage When choosing what to serve on the party, you need to think of a few things; Of course you need to serve something kids like – Beluga and champagne may sound luxurious enough, but the kids (and the parents) will most likely frown upon it all. Better to serve something less extravagant, such as hot dogs, hamburgers or anything in that category of foods. Allergies are very important to consider, you do NOT want to have to call an ambulance just because you had to serve nuts or seafood. Check with all parents of the birthday guests, to see if any children are allergic to anything. Keep the food simple. Kid’s don’t want to spend two hours at a dinner table, they would rather run around having fun. If at all possible, try to serve the food outside – on paper plates – to minimize the damage done by flying ketchup and ice cream. On the invitation you should be as clear as possible. The parents will want to know if food will served, what time it starts/ends and what more to expect. It will also make it easier to know in what price range to buy a birthday gift. Last but not least – Have fun!
